Favorite Coffee Shop: Brooklyn
Urban Vintage, NYC
My new favorite neighborhood coffee shop in Brooklyn is Urban Vintage. While you're waiting on your drink (or food), browse through their collection of vintage furniture and gifts. It's super friendly (unlike the fussy Choice down the street), and the coffee tastes great. They also have a selection of vegan goodies available, like this blueberry banana muffin.

New Obsession: Hummus
At the grocery store the other day, I happened upon this Sabra Greek Olive Hummus, and thought it was pretty delicious. I love to toast low fat tortillas in the oven til crispy and dip them and carrot sticks into hummus- great snacking and substantial enough for a meal. I used to be obsessed with their fig variety (I mean, come on, how good does it sound?!), and decided to check out all the different varieties of hummus Sabra has to offer.
Well, I found this blog. Yes, it's a blog all about hummus. They weren't fans of this hummus (better homemade and too high in sodium, they say). I beg to differ, but will weigh in again after attempting a homemade version.

Apparently "Iron" Chef Morimoto has lost a lot of weight. As you might have guessed by my sporadic posting, I've also been trying to cut back on decadent sweets and rich foods. While cruising the Food Network site for healthy recipes, I found this article. Here are some tips from the Iron Chef himself.

NYC: Molto Vino at Antique de Venezia
Nine Girls: Lots of wine, lots of food. Mostly wine. Antique de Venezia has a romantic vibe- you'll see couples, birthdays, friends.
The specials were delicious, we sampled what seemed like everything on the menu and ended the night with cigars and port, in true New York fashion.

Chelsea Market: Ninth Street Espresso
Coffee fiend that I am, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try an espresso from a spot that receives such high praise. Well, it was ok. Nothing to write home about. I liked that they gave me the coffee in a real cup, and that they didn’t seem to think I was crazy for drinking it at the bar, but the drink in and of itself wasn’t amazing. I’ll try it again, but if it doesn’t knock your socks off, don’t be shocked.
Cute Cupcakes at Chelsea Market
While I didn’t sample these cupcakes (way too much icing for my taste!) they were begging for a photo! Yes, those are spaghetti and meatball cupcakes, and cookie monster has a real cookie in his mouth!
